Schooner or Later
Fantastic breakfast spot on the water. This restaurant was also featured on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives. If you’re up early, go there for breakfast as they don’t take reservations. The wait can be over two hours on the weekend at later times. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Locals tip; the counter seating is “first come first served” little or no wait and you get to watch the cooks which is quite the operation.
Breakfast Republic
Low key, breakfast place that serves American classics with a twist. Also a bit of a wait if you go later. Only open for breakfast and lunch.
Chuck’s Coffee Shop
A Long Beach diner that has been around since 1964 with sidewalk seats and an American diner menu of breakfast, burgers and more. If you go there for breakfast or lunch and there’s a wait, you need to write your name on a list. The food arrives very quickly once you order. Only open for breakfast and lunch.
Colossus Bakery
If you’re not in the mood for a full breakfast this is an outstanding bakery located on 2nd street.
Sheldrake Coffee
Located on 2nd street in Belmont Shore, this small local coffee shop has been roasting their own coffee for many years. On Friday’s you can smell them roasting the French Roast!
Ola Mexican Kitchen
This restaurant serves upscale Mexican food and is known for their selection of tacos and inventive cocktails. It also has a great view overlooking the marina and is located in “2nd and PCH”. Reservations recommended.
